Instructors Bio

Nick Arrojo began his career in beauty at Vidal Sassoon in his hometown of Manchester, England, and, after completing the company’s training program at 21, was appointed their youngest-ever assistant creative director. Soon after, Arrojo became a household name as he graced the nation’s TV screens as the much-adored hair stylist and makeover mastermind on TLC’s What Not to Wear. He continues to cut, style, educate and share his passion for the industry through his Arrojo Studio in Manhattan, his product line and educational team. “The key to success is to have strong focus, plenty of ambition and strive to be better and better every day,” he says.

Class Details

Boot Camp is the perfect seminar for new cosmetology graduates looking for a head start in their career, and experienced stylists looking to take time out to refresh and improve their skill-set. Each week has a different focus, with every session structured to aid your learning of modern creative hairdressing trends and techniques.

Week one is all scissor cutting. Techniques include creating clean lines, strong shapes and structures, working from short to long, and modern graduations. The goal is to improve each attendees approach to classic geometric shapes.

Week two is color and texture. Practicing single processes, highlights and slices, creative and corrective color, we share modern color trends and techniques. There is also a day dedicated to American Wave, as you get certified to practice this lucrative salon service.

Week three covers classic men’s cutting & styling. Men’s techniques include long and square layers, graduation, and scissor over comb as you craft detailed looks with modern, lived-in style.

In week four we introduce the art and craft of razor cutting. Students practice cutting classic shapes with a razor –– one-length lines, graduation, and layering –– as well as trend- conscious techniques such as asymmetry, disconnection, and undercutting.

On the final day, you cut, color and style one model as you create and present to the group one look that weaves together all of the skills that you’ve learned over the four-week course.

Boot Camp provides renewed motivation for a lifetime of success in the industry.

The 4 week program can be taken as individual 1 x week programs (see additional ARROJO course listings).
